Host of the Max Planck Lawcast

Email: c.murphy@csl.mpg.de

With a background in political science and law as well as an easy-going Australian charm, Chris is the host of the Max Planck Lawcast. The Lawcast showcases the academic research conducted across the Max Planck Law network, with guests being invited onto the programme to explore not only the  breakthroughs in their research but also the trials and tribulations that got them there. No topic is too big or small: Chris and his guest have talked about everything from the legitimacy of modern-day corporate tax strategies through to the rights of paupers in medieval England.

Chris studied law and political science at the Australian National University and obtained his PhD in law from the University of Freiburg in 2013. When not recording the Lawcast, he works as a legal editor and translator at the Max Planck Institute for the Study of Crime, Security and Law and also hosts their podcast, Doing Time, Talking Crime.
