Reading Group—Sylvia Tamale’s Decolonization and Afro-Feminism

The Max Planck Law Race and Social Justice Initiative is pleased to launch our own reading group, open to members and guests of any of the Institutes within the Max Planck Law. These informal sessions will be held virtually via Zoom and will provide an opportunity to read and discuss works of all aspects of the law by academics and researchers of colour, as well as works which relate to issues of race, social justice, and the law. There will also be an opportunity for broader discussion and networking across our member network.

Our first session will be on Thursday 16 March 2023 at 17.00 CET. We will be discussing sections of Sylvia Tamale’s book Decolonization and Afro-Feminism (Daraja Press 2020) which covers themes of law and the study and teaching of the law in Africa, as well as decolonization and the role of feminism.

Those who are interested can sign up below. You will be informed on how to access the text after registration.
