The Initiative ‘Decolonial Theory and Law’ seeks to provide a reading group forum in which research at all stages of their careers (from student assistants to senior researchers) can learn about and engage in critical discussions on decolonial theory and its applications to the field of law.
The reading group will be divided into three themes:
- Introduction to decolonial theory—focusing on fundamental texts and providing participants with a basic understanding of decolonial theory
- Decolonial theory and law—focusing on readings related to specific areas of the law and engaging in more substantive and subject specific discussions
- Methodology—focusing on how you can use and bring in decolonial ideas and concepts into your work and research
The theme of the reading group will rotate each month, meaning that each theme is discussed once every three months. The reading group will meet on the third Wednesday of the month.
To sign up for the reading group’s mailing list, to propose texts for discussion or register your interest in becoming a co-organizer, please complete the form under the following link: https://events.mpipriv.de/reading_group_decolonial_theory_and_law
