What is African Law?

The Max Planck Law Initiative, Law and Africa, is pleased to offer its first online event, featuring Professor Atuguba on the question: What is African law?

To address this question, Professor Atuguba will present and engage with the following areas: legal systems before the entry of various European systems of law, multiple levels of legal pluralism in Africa, the hierarchy of norms in plural legal systems, the automatic subordination of pre-existing norms, the domestication and application of international law in plural legal systems, and the resurgence of Customary Law in Africa and the need for indigenous constitutionalism.

You are cordially invited to register for this event by using the form below. This event is open to the public.
