The Inaugural Conference of Max Planck Law took place 21–23 October 2019 in Harnack House. Bringing together scholars at all levels from across the Max Planck Institutes focused on legal research, the conference was testament to the diversity of legal scholarship taking place within the Max Planck Society as well as celebration of our movement towards a more deeply networked and collaborative future, both between the Institutes and with our partners across the world.
The conference programme included a welcome address by the president of the Max Planck Society Professor Martin Stratmann, an introduction by Professor Stefan Vogenauer (Director) in which he presented a brief history of legal studies in the Max Planck Society, an alumnus lecture by Professor Rüdiger Wolfrum, introductory overviews of the member Institutes by the Directors of each Institute, and masterclasses in which the Directors collaborated to present topics from an interdisciplinary perspective.
