Law and Policy in European Integration

The course considers the study of the history of European Union Law, drawing on the extensive research and expertise of the Max Planck Institute for Legal History and Legal Theory (Frankfurt am Main).  There will be three sessions. The first session will introduce the relations between European policies and present the classical example of EU competition policy and law. The second session will discuss environment and fisheries and agriculture.  A third session will consider methods and approaches to the study of history of European policies and law, notably digital humanities and conceptual history, before we conclude with some general insights on the relations between policy and law. Please see the draft programme below.
